Just recently, Acer has launched its new products on both laptops and desktops in 2019 for the new school term.  Desktops, a desktop PC in particular, now comes with a wooden and white case design along with some advanced and powerful components.  Match perfect for students as well as home based office workers.

Introducing, the most popular PC as of today, Acer Aspire S 24 presents the thinnest AiO (All in One) PC in the world.  In Full HD monitor, this 24-inch PC has a thickness of 5.97 mm.  For the sake of getting a thin monitor body, Acer removed all computing devices such as processor, RAM, HDD, and so on at the bottom base (foot stand) of the PC.

In addition, the base is integrated with speakers with Acer True Harmony technology.  By this, the sound is released more loudly and the bass is deeper as well.  To complete its powerful components, Acer Aspire S 24 comes with a Qi-standard wireless charging pad for phones and an intel core i9 processor.

In regards to marketing, the company returns to sell its All-in-One desktop PC to Indonesia in 2018.  In addition, as one of the most popular products of this year, Acer Aspire S 24 wowed the Indonesians.  It features a thin body monitor and a stylish design that fits in today’s consumer satisfaction.

For years, Acer has been known worldwide.  Their 2019 new launched desktop PC performance-wise are best sellers.  Globally, Acer’s desktop PC costs at least $1,699 as of June 2019.  For Acer Aspire S 24, the cheapest online at half the price you can buy through Amazon costs only $899.99.

One of its unique components is the Qi wireless charging.  If you have a compatible device, smartphone, for example.  You just put it on the base, wait until the wireless charging indicator lights change.  Hence, Qi wireless charging is the fastest wireless charging technologies at this point.

When choosing a PC, one of the most important components is a memory.  It has a lot of effect on the speed and overall performance of the PC.  This time, Acer introduced Intel Optane, an accelerator in the use of data stored on the hard drive.  The addition of Intel Optane of HDD type storage can make a computer as fast as using an SSD type hard drive at a more affordable price.

This All-in-One desktop is the thinnest ever featured from Acer.  As mentioned, it displays a screen with a side profile of only 5.97 mm.  The border display and matte gold-black color scheme ensure that the device will be the focal point of every home, adding a touch of elegance and luxury in function.

Even though Acer Aspire S 24 was first released in the middle of 2018, as of today it is still a bestseller.  Acer added a few more advanced components in this particular product this year and has successfully reached customer satisfaction.

There are many components in a computer assisting in its powerful and fast performance. if you are experiencing any issue about a computer running slowly, here are the details of the hardware components that contribute to performance.

Computer CPU

The computer overall speed relates to how fast it can process data. The computer is powerful and faster when it executes per second more instructions. Today there are multi-core GHz processors that are efficient in processing per second more than 100 billion instructions.

Cache

The computer’s hard drive and the RAM are slower than the processors or CPU of the computers. The data is transferred by the motherboards using cache between the memory, processor, and components. The Cache is a fast memory type and PCs with more cache can store more instructions, ensuring an efficient processor.

Memory (RAM)

Memory stores more programs and as the computer is short of memory, unused data should be removed or moved to hard disk. This step of moving it to a hard drive that is the slowest can also make your computer slow if your hard drive lacks enough memory.

Bus speed

A Motherboard may increase or reduce the data speed as it is transferred in the computer between hardware components. If the computer has slow bus speed, the instructions are delayed as the processor takes longer time and the computers run slow.

Hard drive- SSD drive

Several hard disk drive components make it faster or slower. A hard drive makes a computer slower due to the hard drive moving parts that read slowly and takes time. An SSD (solid-state drive) has no moving parts and this result in faster writing and reading times to and from the hard drive.

Video card

Playing computer games can be faster with a powerful video card. The video card can help in faster performance as it processes the 3D and its complex tasks. With powerful video card, the 3D graphics are rendered better and the overall processing of graphics is faster.

Software

The computer software affects speed. If there are bugs, the instructions are delayed, it will run slow and so have the latest updates to make it efficient.

Latest operating system

The latest OS has an impact and new technologies are rightly supported. The OS keeps releasing updates offering support to the new technologies. Thus having the latest OS updates keep your computer running faster.

HP and Microsoft have effectively started with innovation. Both firms are making a deal that their new products are better to Apple counterparts. However, Apple is not giving much importance to PCs for quite some time now.

New Innovations

Recently, in the last week, there were interesting two product launches. HP came with a 2-in-1 PC, a clean state rethinking with the HP Folio and the next launch was from Microsoft unveiling its Surface Line.

Apple started with the PC launch revolution, but it is ironic and sad that the folks at Apple even cared for PCs. Nevertheless, HP and Microsoft, both are racing to offer the best alternatives to that Apple would attempt to make, if it has any concern about PCs innovation.

HP Folio

This PC innovation is an out-of-the-box product. It is a 2-in-1 that has presented Intel’s effort addressing iPad threat. The 2-in 1s issues are that most people use tablets as laptops. This is owing to their heavy and big appeal that it looked awkward as tablets.

People use large portfolios and they are mostly in leather, not in aluminum or steel. The leather portfolios are easy on the hand. Now about the new HP Folio:

  • It is in leather, burgundy or brown.
  • It is in lightweight.
  • Surprisingly it works all-day as the battery life is good
  • A cantilevered screen

The screen part allows you to fold it. It turns into a tablet, covers keyboard and you can watch a movie by moving the display forward conveniently even if your seat tables are shallow.

The 2-in-1 design of HP Folio is attractive, compact and a complete product. Hp has come with innovation as a break-through.

Surface Refresh

Original Surface from Microsoft was a tablet embracing the design of Apple iPad. It ran on Windows and not iOS. It was more of a PC but was not attractive with battery life.

Microsoft could not run Windows on ARM and that effort failed outright. The only interesting point was the magnetic connector used for power offering a safer approach. However, with time Intel improved the technology and introduced more compelling products.

The Surface Notebook and Book are MacBook competitors. They work better as notebook computers. The interesting products are the Surface Go and Surface Studio. The recent update was with Surface Go featuring:

  • A USB-charger and a built-in LTE
  • The WAN connectivity made it typically an iPhone and there was no need for Wi-Fi signal.

The Surface Studio is interesting as a PC innovation. It is an all-in-one design updated offering more performance than any local workstation. An interesting choice for boys and girls!

The typical configuration of personal computers is that it consists of a keyboard, a video display, mouse, storage device, a modem, memory, and logic unit.

Use of personal computers

Computers offer access to knowledge sources. They help internet communications, word processing, desktop publishing, and audio/digital compositions. PCs are a valued technology piece working its ways into businesses and homes around the world. The capabilities of information processing of computers have added to usage.

Work

It is uncommon to find any office these days that does not have a personal computer. All the activities work-related are executed by using a computer as it is possible to do in a better way. Employees use it for creating drafts, making presentations, keeping company records, and for making spreadsheets.

Many professions these days are related to computer directly and this includes the graphic design and web page. The world is connected in all the ways to the internet and this has allowed individuals to work from or at home using personal computers. It is highly used for off-line work and it has become a way of living that has given rise to website content writers.

Don’t you think desktop computers are slowly losing their market in this growing economy, as they were the most important gadget who brought globalization in the world? The desktop computers are slowly getting replaced by laptops and tablets. The main reason why the laptops are getting more popular than the computers is the fact that they can be taken everywhere, laptops allow you to work even while traveling or in your bedroom, but on the other hand desktop computers provide you with certain advantages over the laptop computer. Let’s discuss the main advantages that desktop computers have over laptops.

Some advantages of PCs over Laptop:

  • Risk of theft: As the desktop computers are big in size and are kept at a single place the risk of theft for the decreases which means there won’t be any loss of data and on the other hand you do not need to pay for another computer.
  • Less expensive: On the other hand the desktop computers are less expensive when compared to laptops so that they can fit in your budget quite easily.

What if I tell you the tiniest computer in the world is smaller than a rice grain. If you don’t believe me then after reading this you surely will. So, in March 2019 IBM came up with a computer of the size 1mm X 1mm. Earlier the record of the tiniest computer in the world was held by a team of the University of Michigan and the computer was of the size 2mm X 2mm X 4mm. The word computer creates an image of the desktop, a CPU, a mouse and what not but have you ever thought that you can hold a computer by just the tip of your finger.

But, the earlier record holders i.e. the team of the University of Michigan is questioning the credibility of the tiniest computeras when you power off the pc all the data and programs are still available on the internal storage of the device. And when you switch it on again all your dog videos, documents, games reappear. But, this cannot be seen in the case of the computer which is smaller than a rice grain.

What Technology does this tiny PC use?

The new technology being used in the tiniest computers isphotovoltaics which converts light in electricity. The computers also consist of system memory, a processor, and a wireless transmitter and a receiver which sends and receives data with light. Currently, the small computer can serve as an accurate temperature sensor because it using the electronic pulses it converts the temperature in timed intervals.

Different biological experts are giving there say on this technology as it can be helpful in many ways as the computer is smaller than a rice grain it can be implanted to investigate the variations taking place in the temperature of a tumor and that of a normal tissue and this can help in knowing the success of a therapy. The tiniest computer can be used in many different ways and also can open the gate for foe many more inventions. It will be interesting to see if an even smaller the computer is being invented but for that, we have to surely wait for a while.

Intel has announced its Ice Lake 10th generation core processors which will ensure that you get more energy-efficient laptops in the immediate future. These 10th generation core processors will be based on 10nm architecture towards which Intel had been working for a long time. These processors will be known as i3, i5, i7, and i9 as earlier. Intel is likely to follow the similar naming structure and name these chips like Core i5 1030 G7 where i5 stands for the core i5 chipset from 10th generation, 30 is the processor model, and G7 is the graphics level.

What is New

The Intel Ice Lake 10th Generation Core Processors are built on Intel’s Sunny Cove architecture based on 10nm process. The direct impact of such an architecture will be high energy efficiency and laptops working on the Intel 10th generation processors will have higher battery backup time. It is expected that these processors will provide a battery life of up to 25 hours. The Intel Ice Lake 10th generation core processors will be at least 18% faster than the current processors. It will also support Wi-Fi 6 and thunderbolt 3 for faster data transfer. These 10th generation processors can provide up to a teraflop of GPU computing power which will be amazing for high-end content creation and heavy multitasking. It also comes with variable-rate shedding which will make it perfect for playing games.

The Intel 10th generation core processors also come with Intel graphics core. This new graphics option is termed as “Iris Plus” and should provide a significant improvement to these processors over UHD graphics. This can result in a 1.8 times faster experience over Intel’s previous integrated graphics and it will also make FHD gaming more achievable. In addition to this, the Intel 10th generation core processors will also support Wi-Fi 6 which will ensure fast internet connectivity and local data transfers. It is estimated to provide a 70% reduction in latency.

Availability

It is expected that laptops with Intel Ice Lake 10th generation core processors will start shipping out before the end of 2019. The Y series and U series chips will be made available in the market first. You can expect to see nearly 35 laptops from different brands by Q3 of 2019. The Dell XPS13 2-in-1 and Microsoft Surface devices are expected to be powered by these 10th generation core processors. The desktops with these Intel 10th generation core processors will take time to hit the market and they are expected to roll out only in 2021.

Anyone who dabbles in some high-end PC gaming knows that when it comes to an open world game the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 struggled to compete. This is not to put down those consoles as they are awesome. However, a powerful PC running an open world has faster load times along with better visuals and textures.

Today we are taking a look at some of the best open world games for PC! If you are a PC gamer and love games that have a large sprawling world for you to explore these are the games for you.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

If you want a game that is going to push your gaming PC to the limit then, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the game for you. You play as Geralt who is a powerful warrior (well Witcher) and he will stop at nothing to get his daughter back. The story in this game is phenomenal, but it has one of the most impressively large open worlds with a fantasy setting that you will ever play through.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey

Say what you will about the Assassin’s Creed series, but Ubisoft nailed it with the last two games, especially Assassin’s Creed Odyssey here. The ancient Greece setting of the game is really awesome and it is very diverse with the different locations that you can explore. With some excellent combat and some amazing visuals If you have a powerful PC. This is a game that you will have a great deal of fun with.

Grand Theft Auto V

To say that GTA V is a game changer is a massive understatement When Rockstar announced that this was coming to a gaming PC near you, people lost their minds. With one of the best stories, the series has ever seen. GTA V lets you play as three very different characters in a massive LA type city that actually feels like it is alive! Seriously as great as the story in GTA V is. Screwing around and just doing what you want in this large open world is a huge part of the fun.

Fallout 4

As a Bethesda game, Fallout 4 can have a few “technical” issues as their games often do. That is easy to look past as this nuclear decimated open world is one of the most impressive on this list. Fallout 4 really does not hold your hand and you are encouraged to explore as much of the land as possible. Seeing how the nuclear fallout has changed things is really cool and the RPG mechanics that the game has, along with the combat make for a very exciting and addictive game that any PC gamer should give a try.

Batman Arkham Knight

Granted this may seem like a rather “out there” choice. However, Batman Arkham Knight for PC has had a ton of work done on it to make it a game that is truly amazing. This open world Gotham City that you get to explore is truly amazing. If you have a powerful PC then you will be very impressed at how sharp Gotham looks. The story is great, combat is the best it has ever been and you can now finally get behind the wheel of The Batmobile!

Many Xbox One owners have used or are using Xbox Game Pass. It is a fantastic deal when you consider it gives you a huge library of games to enjoy. Not only that, but all of the big Xbox One exclusives are always available as part of the Game Pass the day they are released! If you do not care about actually owning the games and just want to play them then it really is the best deal for you.

Gaming laptops are very expensive, but with the Xbox Game Pass confirmed as coming to PC. Your gaming laptop (or even your desktop) is now going to be getting a lot more bang for your buck! Many people have wanted Game Pass to make this leap for quite some time and at this year’s E3, Microsoft announced their plans to ensure that PC gamers are going to be just as impressed with Game Pass as those who game on an Xbox One already are.

The way the subscription is working is very interesting. You can get the Xbox Game Pass subscription for your gaming laptop or PC even if you do not have an Xbox One. If you already have an Xbox One, you can get the Ultimate Game Pass bundle that gives you access to both! It only costs a few extra bucks a month and it really is worth it if you game on both machines.

The Ultimate Game Pass is 15 bucks a month. With this, you get access to the Game Pass on your gaming laptop and your Xbox One. However, this Ultimate Game Pass does also include your Xbox Live Gold membership too! It really is the best way to experience the Game Pass if you intend on gaming on both platforms.

For those of you who do not have an Xbox One, but just use your gaming laptop. You can pay just five bucks a month for the PC version of the Game Pass. This means you can enjoy all those great exclusives like Halo, Forza, and Gears of War on your gaming PC. Just know that as the service has just launched on PC. The Game Pass for PC does not have the exact same library that is on Xbox One just now. Still, there are over 100 games on there for you to choose from and more will be added on a monthly basis so there will always be something for you to play.

It is also worth noting that your PC Xbox Game Pass will also get you special discounts on things like actually buying the game outright as well as DLC and add ons that those Game Pass games contain. So when you dig deeper into it, you see that the asking price of only five bucks a month is actually a massive steal.

I think that Microsoft has hit a home run with this. They are merging console and PC gaming very well with their Ultimate Xbox Game Pass and if you want to get the most out of your gaming laptop, Game Pass is a great way to do it.

So, my father who is in his late 50’s decided that buying a PC was the thing to do. I am not exactly sure what led him to this decision, but I can tell you that he is not the most “technically minded” fellow in the world. He has had a laptop in the past, but it spent about three years down the side of the sofa. So, he wanted a “proper computer” as he put it that he could use.

Buying a PC for someone who is a bit older can be rather challenging, but I managed to do and I managed to do it without getting stressed, complained at by my dad and wishing the whole process would just be over! These are my tips to help you get the right desktop PC for your folks.

Gotta Go Fast!

Do not just buy or let them buy the cheapest desktop PC around! You want the PC to boot up quickly and be ready for use as quickly as possible. The last thing you want is them calling you up because the PC took 3 minutes to fully turn on and they have clicked a load of buttons and it is now not working right. A PC that boots up quickly is going to make their using of the PC much easier for them.

The Right OS

For me, there was no way I was spending the money to get my dad a Mac as I did not know if he was going to use it. To be fair he has never had an iPhone so it would not matter. Windows was the way to go for my dad and I think that it is easy enough to use that most “older” PC users will get the idea of Windows.

On the flip side of this if you have parents who already use an iPhone then they may respond better to a Mac as it will seem more familiar for them.

Computer Desktop PC

Set It Up, Then Give It To Them

I am going to save you a major headache right now! Buy the desktop PC by yourself or get it sent to your house first. Set it all up so it is ready to go and THEN take it to your parent’s house and set it up for them. The last thing you want is your less than technically minded parental figure standing over your shoulder offering advice on how to set it up.

When you are setting it up you can make sure that the toolbar has all the stuff, they need easy access to. In my dads’ case, this was Google Chrome, Netflix, WWE Network, Microsoft Word and Facebook. I would also advise making sure that any apps they might need are on there for them. If you have access to things like their email and banking, setting that up for them might also be the way to go.

It is awesome that older people are embracing technology. I really think that a desktop PC is the way to go for someone. Buying a PC is a great thing and as long as you help them set it up, figure things out and are on hand for tech support. You will be amazed at how quickly they pick it all up.
