LG Showcases its New 4K LG HU85LA Projector in Berlin with Better Color and Screen Size

Talking about projectors, this type of gadget is quite popular in this era. There are so many manufacturers that have produced projectors in various sizes and functions. Formerly, this kind of gadget was commonly used for presentation, but today users buy projectors for many purposes such as watching movies and play games on widescreen.

LG projector is one of the technologies that also comes with their new projectors. LG also enlivened the IFA 2019 event which took place in Berlin, Germany. Several brand-new devices were introduced, one of which was an ultra-short throw laser projector with its first 4K resolution.

About LG Projector

The new projector from LG is called LG 4K UHD CineBeam Laser LG HU85LA Projector. Presented not only as a supporter of the creation of a home cinema, but it can also be used for presentations in the office.

Jang Ik-hwan, Head of LG IT Business Division, explained that this projector has wheel-less technology to produce better color accuracy by overcoming the limitations of Digital Light Processing (DLP) projector technology that uses color wheels.

“This technology eliminates the typical visual disturbances commonly encountered in the use of projectors. Among the visual disturbances referred to are like the appearance of the rainbow effect, foggy image display, and color distortion,” explained Jang.

He further explained the color reproduction of the LG HU85LA projector using an applied laser system with three channels. On the other hand, it makes this projector capable of reproducing red and blue colors separately with laser support. While the wheel-less laser technology produces green with the support of a separate blue source.

This unique configuration of color reproduction is claimed to improve color accuracy by achieving 97% of the DCI-P3 color space. Not only that, color processing up to 12 bits with lighting levels reaching 2,700 ANSI lumens, providing better image details which can make the image look alive.

Supporting Ultra Short Throw (UST) technology, it makes the LG HU85LA projector capable of projecting images in a wide-screen span with very close positioning of the projector. To project an image with a diagonal span of 90 inches, the LG HU85LA only requires a distance of 5.6 cm. While laying at a distance of 18 cm, allows users to enjoy viewing content in a 120-inch landscape.

LG also provides HDR10 support on the projector. Also, there is TruMotion technology to make images appear more natural. Ensuring that users have wider opportunities for various content to be displayed, the LG HU85LA projector is made with 4K upscale equipment. Working with six stages, this feature enhances the quality of content with Full HD sources for display in 4K quality.

“LG HU85LA projectors represent our efforts in pushing all the boundaries that have existed so far to set standards for modern projectors,” concluded Jang.

Huawei Watch GT 2 Comes with Extra Workout Modes and Better Battery Life

The development of technology makes smartphone creators competing to produce smartwatches. As we know, now there are many smartwatches from various brands available in the market. Huawei is one of the gadget companies that has released several of their smartwatches. Currently, they are planning to launch their latest smartwatch product, named Huawei Watch GT 2.

Huawei is predicted to announce a new smartwatch, Watch GT 2 along with Mate 30 Pro in this September. The smartwatch will not run on Wear OS, but rather two different operating systems from Huawei.

Reported by Phone Arena, Huawei Watch GT 2 will be supported by Lite OS for the international market while the Chinese market will get a variant with Harmony OS.

Like its predecessor, this smartwatch will have a display like a traditional clock. Watch GT 2 has a circular design and wrapped in aluminum material.

To make it look more modern, Huawei implements several important changes including slightly larger screen size, slimmer bezel, and thinner design. This design makes the Watch GT 2 feel thinner than its predecessor.

Features

Like its predecessor, the Huawei GT 2 will also come with some important features. A number of features that will be available on this wearable device are GPS tracker, Bluetooth, microphone and speaker. This smartwatch will also be available in LTE variants.

It seems that Huawei Watch GT 2 still uses the same OLED capacitive touchscreen which is also used by its predecessor. However, we have no idea if the GT 2 will have a bigger screen or it is just similar to the GT 1.

Meanwhile, the GT 2 still does not have card slot and it only has 128 MB internal memory with 16MB RAM. In fact, it is good enough because Huawei Watch GT 2 is equipped with some sensors including compass, barometer, heart rate, gyro, and accelerometer.

We do not expect too many features from the latest Huawei Watch because Huawei Watch GT 2 will focus on physical activity. The optical heart rate monitor that was present in last year’s model will still remain, and will likely be equipped with support for various workout modes including hiking, running, biking, and swimming.

To maximize usage, the smartwatch is predicted to have a 450mAh battery. The previous version of the Huawei GT was only equipped with 420mAh. So, the GT 2 will apparently have a better battery life compared to the previous model.

This smartwatch is predicted to be announced on September 19, 2019, along with Mate 30 Pro. This device will reportedly be sold in Classic and Sport variants in October 2019.

DJI Drone Prices Are More Expensive in the USA Due to the New Donald Trump Regulation

DJI drone price has increased since the new tax regulation of the United States. DJI as a Chinese drone manufacturer has raised the selling price of its drone products by 15 percent from the initial price. The increase was triggered by US President Donald Trump’s policy of raising additional tariffs for products from China imported by the United States. The increase in import tariffs is only the aftermath of the trade war between the US and China.

Additional import tariffs imposed by the US government are 15 percent for goods from China. According to a DJI spokesperson, the company has considered many factors when recommending retail prices for DJI products that are distributed globally. This includes tax rates to fluctuations in currency exchange rates.

“Since the recent tariff increases, DJI done price has now been updated,” said a DJI spokesman. “We comply with all applicable laws and regulations in the countries where we operate,” he added. Price increases apply to DJI products on the United States market.

For example, in the United States, DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone is now priced at 1,729 US dollars which were originally only 1,499 US dollars. Then, the price of the DJI Mavic Air drone from what was originally priced at 799 US dollars is now 919 US dollars.

In addition to making prices soar, rising import tariffs also make it difficult for US-based companies, such as Apple because there are so many Apple products imported to the US from its factory in China. The price increase is already applied to the DJI drones in the land of Uncle Sam.

So what about in Asia? According to the Erajaya Director of Marketing & Communications as a distributor of DJI products, DJI’s drone prices in Asia tend to remain stable and have not shown signs of an increase. According to him, the trade war only occurred between the United States and China so that it did not have an impact on the price of DJI drones in some countries in Asia.

So far it is safe. Trade war tariff is only between China and the United States. So, it seems that it will not affect prices in some Asian countries. The United States government began imposing 15 percent import tariffs on Chinese goods since September 1, 2019. Initially, the planned import tariff imposed on Chinese goods worth 300 billion US dollars was 10 percent, but the percentage recently was later increased to 15 percent.

Previously, the US government intended to block every product imported from China, but the US government canceled the policy until finally, they come with their new regulation which also influences DJI drone prices. Fortunately, the tax rate increase is just applied to the US country so it will not influence the Asian market. Sony Alpha a6500 and a6100 Launch That Can Capture Brighter and More Natural Images

After the Sony Alpha a6400 first appeared earlier this year, Sony re-launched two new mirrorless camera models, Sony Alpha a6100 and Sony Alpha a6600. Both cameras are positioned flanking the a6400 series. The Sony a6100 is the bottom model of the a6000 successor, while the a6600 is Sony’s flagship camera for the APS-C mirrorless segment, the next model for the a6500.

The A6400 is nothing but an advanced model of the A6300. The Sony Alpha a6100 and a6600 core specifications are similar to the a6400. All of these three cameras rely on a 24.2-megapixel APS-C image sensor paired with a Bionz X image processing processor. The sensitivity range of these three Sony cameras is just the same, from ISO 100 to 32,000 (native), with burst rate speeds of up to 11 FPS with AF and AE tracking.

Both the a6600 and a6100 share the Real-time Eye AF autofocus technology, which was first introduced on the a6400. Either the a6600, the a6400, or the a6100 are equipped with a 3-inch touch screen that can be rotated so that it faces forward. All three cameras use a 24.2-megapixel APS-C sensor with Real-time Eye AF technology.

The AF system that can detect the eye as an accurate focus target relies on 425 phase-detect points along with 425 contrast-detect points to follow the movements of subjects in around the frame and can also be applied to video. In the a6600 and a6100, Sony also embeds a 3-inch touch screen that can be rotated 180 degrees up so that it faces forward to support selfie photographing and vlogging shooting.

As the top model, Sony Alpha A6600 is equipped with several new features that are absent from the other two models such as In-body Image Stabilizer (IBIS), large-capacity Z-type batteries, headphone jack, Hybrid Log-Gamma (HLG) profile, and larger handgrips.

However, for the first time in the a6xxx camera series from Sony, the a6600 is not equipped with a built-in flash. The component was replaced by a fourth custom button behind the camera. Sony a6100 sits in the lower position and because of that, its features are also trimmed compared to its two siblings.

For example, it does not have picture profiles for videos (S-Log, Cine, etc.). A6100 viewfinder resolution is also smaller, which is 1.4 megapixels, compared to 2.35 megapixels on the a6600 and a6400. However, EVFs in all three have the same magnification level (0.70x).

Apple iPhone users are now using Siri and it is playing music from the available Apple Music. However, there are talks that Spotify and Apple to allow iPhone users to command Siri to play through Spotify the music.

The talks

It is believed that iPad, iPhone, and HomePad users have to say at the Siri command end as ‘Spotify’. This is essential if the voice assistant is using Apple Music as default even after the companies agree. However, this is a welcome step for the users.

The talks believe to have a set of tools earlier this year. It will allow the audio apps developers to make services available easily using Siri commands. These tools will be a part of the SiriKit launched in 2016 and now Siri will play through Spotify.

Already Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa voice assistants work with Spotify. It allows the users to go through streaming services, despite both Google and Amazon offering music streaming services.

Set- up with Siri Shortcuts Spotify

Step 1: Download shortcut ‘Spotify Siri’ on your iPhone and open the Shortcuts app. You can tap on and Get Shortcut so that you include it in your library.

Step 2: Visit the Library and click on the Spotify Siri icon the menu button. Then click on the settings button.

Xiaomi launched Mi Band 4 with full color amoled touch display

Right from the start, Xiaomi has maintained the price of Mi Band 3 at $11.99 but for the first time, it will sell Mi Band 3 at a discounted rate of $11.99. Amazon and Flipkart will start selling it at a discounted rate from August 8 in their respective sales whereas Mi.com will start selling it at lesser rates from August 7.

Is It Worth Buying A Smartwatch?

Did you know that the desire for a smartwatch has been around for quite some time? Apple was surprised to find out that when they released their iPod Nano device. People were buying straps and attaching it to their wrist! So, there has been a desire for a “second screen” kind of device for quite some while.

While thanks to the current Apple watch and the Samsung Watch, people are getting more into these. My wife actually got one of the first-generation Samsung watches many years ago (I think it was around the time of the S4 or S5) and that thing sounded like a great idea, but the tech and soft wear was not quite there yet so it ended up not being used a whole lot.

A new Samsung Watch though is a different story. As is the case with the new Apple Watch. These things are much more powerful and have far better battery life. My wife actually ended up getting a free Samsung Watch, the latest model so I have been testing it out all this week.

First thing, it looks pretty cool. I really like how at a glance you cannot tell it is not a proper watch and it does have a few different watch faces on it to choose from. Also, it is really neat how you can use it to access pretty much everything that is on your phone. A great example of this happened in the morning I am writing this.

I was in the gym, Samsung watch on my arm and my phone in my bad which was on a peg on the wall. I got a text from my sons’ school and I was able to check it out without having to 1, go to my phone or 2 have my phone in my pocket or next to me. It does not sound like much, but it is pretty darn convenient to be able to check out a quick text message, email or whatever without getting your phone out. You can do calls on this, but I am not sure that is for me as it made me feel like I was Inspector Gadget, but hey it is there if you need it.

For the ladies who keep their phone in their bags all the time (phones in pockets certainly seems to be a male thing), this is going to be really handy. So, I must admit having a smartwatch is way more convenient than I actually thought it would be and now I have to come up with a way to convince my wife to let me keep this.

You see as much as I like this current generation of smartwatch. You are looking at a few hundred bucks! There are much cheaper ones on the market, but in all honesty, I am not sure I would even bother with one of those. I do also have to wonder about the durability of these things as I know for a fact that smartwatch repairs (especially the Apple Watch) are very expensive.

If the Apple Watch and the Samsung Watch or some other kind of higher end smartwatch can get that price down to around the 100 bucks mark. I really do think that these will take off. I must admit I was way more impressed with this than I actually thought I would be.
